Gonville & Caius is the fourth oldest college in the University of Cambridge, founded in 1348. The college is located on Trinity Street, one of the most historic streets in Cambridge. The main college site boasts stunning architecture and courts that provide the perfect backdrop for weddings and photographs. There is detailed ornamentation over doorways, coats of arms, and statues of benefactors that adorn the buildings.

As you arrive at the college and enter Tree Court, famed for its avenue of hornbeams, you’ll fall in love. Beyond this lies the manicured lawn and sunny aspect of Gonville Court, which offers an excellent location for a drink’s reception. The West Road site is near the famous ‘backs’ and provides the perfect setting for outdoor wedding ceremonies,
surrounded by landscaped gardens. The cedarwood pavilion based here is specifically designed for wedding ceremonies.

Celebrate in style
The property offers weddings in a range of elegant, historic rooms as well as in the gardens at the West Road site, where the cedarwood pavilion can be used for ceremonies.

Members of the college who are within their current residence can host their ceremony in the College Chapel.

Gonville & Caius College offers grand, traditional rooms in peaceful settings in which to hold civil ceremonies in the Old Courts. The magnificent Old Courts Main Hall can seat up to 186 diners, comprising of four banquet tables and a top table. The room has striking stained-glass windows that depict representations of famous Caians such as John Venn and Francis Crick.

We love...
The venue’s rich history and beautiful ceremony spaces.
