Owner of Great Yarmouth's Imperial Hotel Nick Mobbs is celebrating 36 years at the helm of the Norfolk seaside wedding venue.
Over the last three-and-a-half decades, Nick and his family have overseen some major changes transforming it from a two-star to the highest rated four-star hotel in the area, with 39 en-suite bedrooms, three restaurants and a large function room.
Nick joined the family-run business in 1984 after his dad Roger asked him to step into the breach when the hotel manager handed in his notice. He hasn't looked back since and after their wedding in 1987, his wife Aileen joined the team too.
Nick says, "My overriding ambition has been, and always will be, for the Imperial Hotel to be the best it can be. This has led us down all sorts of paths over the years, from redesigning the reception area in the 1990s, continually investing in staff and in the hotel, to adding on The Terrace in 2011 and reworking our à la carte menu in 2019 to achieve our second AA rosette."
As well as top-notch food the hotel prides itself on providing great customer service and an inviting setting for weddings. The large function room includes a dancefloor with an adjoining bar and a spacious dining room. It also boasts a prime seafront location, perfect for photos on the beach or in the Venetian Waterway Gardens opposite. Catering for weddings of all sizes from intimate affairs to evening receptions with 150 guests, it's a year-round destination hotspot.
