Couples on the hunt for a one-of-a-kind wedding venue will have the chance to check out Norfolk's historic Thurning Hall in the new year.

The historic family home, used as the set for fictional TV dramas, will be opening its doors in January to couples looking for the perfect venue for their big day. Used as the set for George Elliot's The Mill on The Floss and Ruth Rendall's A Fatal Inversion, the venue is offering newlyweds-to-be a rare glimpse behind the scenes on January 26th and 27th, with the opportunity to book a private tour.

As a private family home the owners like to meet couples to show them firsthand the potential offered by the 18th-century house and grounds. The sprawling walled gardens are all managed and kept by the family and offer a beautiful setting. As a 'dry-hire' venue, couples have the freedom to turn their wedding ideas into reality.

Thurning Hall, near Holt in North Norfolk, has been in the care of the current family since 1947, and has been licensed for weddings since 1995. Owner Pauline Harrold, who founded the wedding business, has now passed it on to daughter Lara and her restoration builder husband George Lacey, who live on site with their three children.

Over the last four years the house has undergone extensive restoration of the servants' garret, walled gardens and woodland - plus the addition of two miniature Shetland ponies. Restoration work is ongoing with major plans to restore the 18th century stable and coach house.

Set in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, the Georgian mansion is a magical place for everything from bohemian banquets and whimsical woodland celebrations, to eclectic extravaganzas or relaxed garden vibes. The house offers an authentic period backdrop for the wedding ceremony; while the sprawling gardens provide an expanse of hidden charms for a memorable reception.

To book a private tour of Thurning Hall on January 26th or 27th contact Lara Lacey on hello@thurninghall.co.uk or call 01263 587 384.
