When it comes to a wedding, whether you're the bride or a guest, the million-dollar question for everyone is: what am I going to wear? For the bride and groom, as they are the stars of the show, it's likely that they have at least an idea of what their big-day look will be like. But for the rest of the wedding party, where do you begin? First and foremost, the venue and theme of the day are paramount. A long flowing gown for bridesmaids will look out of place in a field for a tipi wedding; similarly, the mother- of-the-bride in a tropical print, summer dress may stand out against a stately home wedding venue with a Bridgerton-inspired theme. Secondly, the weather, we British folk like to moan about it and rightly so, because how many sunny days do we have each year? The season and the inclement weather will dictate not only the attire, the colour palette – no one wears pastel yellow in winter! – but also your accessory choice; boleros, jackets and wraps will be your cosy friend for winter 'I dos'. With this in mind, we've put together a feature focusing on seasonal trends, so you can look the part no matter the time of year.

These beautiful bridesmaids' dresses are available from La Belle Angèle.

Michelle Tinsley from Lily Francis Bridal tells us when you should start looking for your wedding dress.

"As a rule, we tend to advise brides-to-be to start looking for their wedding dress 12-18 months before the big day. I know this seems like a long timeframe to some people, but 12-18 months will allow plenty of time as: You can book appointments in multiple stores, as you may not find your dress in the first shop you visit. Delivery for some designers can take up to 20 weeks.

"The internet is a great source for looking at different dress styles and getting an idea of what you like. However, it's always a good idea to go into your first appointment with an open mind; so many women are surprised at what does and doesn't suit them."
