Gemma C Photography is a talented wedding photographer based in Suffolk. Owner Gemma Cook tells us more about her business:
"What got me into photography? I would first say my dad. I'm 27 and, at the age of 14, my dad took my sister and I to some photography workshops and from there I never left the camera. I have since learnt different techniques that have helped develop my small photography business. For example, I recently bought a drone and learnt how to use it for a wedding at Langham Hall in Essex. The groom's brother owns Langham Hall and it was an honour to photograph there. The couple told me they wanted a heart under the drone and they immediately got themselves into this heart without any of my help. I thought I was going to have to use rounder cones or something to show what a heart would look like from above, but they knew exactly what I was going for. Alongside this, I also filmed the couple on a walk, which can be seen on my Instagram page, www.instagram.com/gemma.c.photography. I am looking to explore more drone footage with weddings booked in 2025 and 2026.
"This year I have also recently been to a couple of wedding fairs, showcasing my photography, including Stoke by Nayland and Trinity Park, and I feel that this is a great way to meet couples who are looking for wedding photography. For the wedding fairs, I printed a photo to go on canvas that shows the bride's veil floating over the couple's heads taken at Hintlesham Golf Club, and this photograph was chosen by the couple for a print package. It gives me so much happiness when the bride and groom love their photos and the memories captured. I very much enjoy talking to people and showing them my portfolio. I shoot in a very natural style, which a lot of couples have mentioned is what they like so much about my work. I will continue to look forward to meeting new couples at these wedding fairs!
"Sadly, two years ago, my dad passed away from terminal cancer at the age of 60. I hope I always make my dad and my family proud by photographing weddings and families, but without him, I would not have learnt so much about cameras. So in a way, my photography is always in honour of my dad."
