Beauty experts reveal the latest Korean skincare trend

Bringing us beauty buzzwords such as glass skin, slugging, and glazed doughnut skin, Korea has always been at the forefront of skincare. Its latest trend is honey skin with honey skin in Hangul having over 4 million video views.

Managing director UK, of bestselling Korean skincare brand Atomy, Ruby McGrath, explains, "Honey Skin is the hottest skincare trend in Korea right now, and is the ultimate compliment if someone tells you, "Your skin is like honey." It's an established Korean term that's used to describe hydrated, dewy skin that's deeply plumped with nourishment. To achieve it, carefully layer oils and emollient creams, which offer instant and lasting hydration giving the skin a gorgeous, glowy sheen like that of honey itself. We predict this will be the next skincare technique to trend in the West, with the likes of Hailey Bieber already reaping it's rewards."

Ruby has pinpointed four key steps to creating the look, below.

Freshly Cosmetics Citrus Nourishing Shower Gel

FIRST STEP - BODY WASH

Ruby says, "The most important step to achieving honey skin is clean skin. However, be sure not to use body washes with ingredients that'll strip your skin of moisture and leave it feeling dry. Seek nourishing ingredients like glycerin, avocado oil and aloe vera."

Sugar Coated Full Body Kit

SECOND STEP - HAIR REMOVAL

Wax therapist, founder of Sugar Coated Hair Removal, and natural beauty expert, Rosie Khandwala says, "Using the right form of hair removal is vital to how nourished and moisturised your skin looks. Whilst many types can leave skin feeling dry from synthetic ingredients, sugar waxing leaves your skin feeling smooth and looking glowy as it exfoliates dead skin cells too. This gives your skin the best foundation for absorbing your next skincare steps, resulting in the silky-smooth canvas needed for creating honey skin."

Atomy Rich Body Cream THIRD STEP - RICH MOISTURISER

Ruby McGrath of Atomy, says "This step is when you start adding moisture into the skin, and layering product to protect your skin's moisture barrier. This especially works overnight where skin can fully absorb nourishing ingredients whilst you sleep, so that you wake up with gorgeously dewy skin. In Korea natural, gentle ingredients are typically most coveted, so look at ingredients such as honey, rose, moringa, shea butter and fig."

Atomy Rich Body Cream (£12, www.atomy.uk) creates a 5-step layering moisture system, with Hyaluronic Acid micromolecules filling up your skin from the inside, Moringa minerals retaining moisture in the skin, Ceramides strengthening the skin's barrier, Honey to transform rough skin into moist and smooth skin, and Shea Butter to powerfully lock in moisture."

Eresos Sweet Almond Hand & Body Oil FOURTH STEP - BODY OIL

Ruby says "Adding another layer for additional moisture is very common in Korean Skincare, to leave your skin with that visible glow of health and vitality.  Almond Oil works hard on skin as not only does it soothe dry skin, but it can also improve complexion and skin tone. It's highly emollient, which means it helps to balance the absorption of moisture and water loss. Because it is antibacterial and full of vitamin A, almond oil can be used to treat acne."
