I love this time of year, perfect for taking time out from the wedding planning to relax and enjoy the great outdoors — with the first extra layer of clothing post-summer!
There’s plenty of wedding inspiration to be found all around us. East Anglia is blessed with glorious countryside, coastline, woods and forests, so why not grab your partner, pull on your wellies and head out for a good forage? The falling leaves and rich, berry shades of seasonal fruits are great for your big-day palette. Conkers, acorns, twigs, brambles and other finds can provide a wealth of natural decorative material too.
As well as seasonal inspiration, this issue is packed with all the latest trends and top tips for all things wedding related from bridal fashion and fabulous local venues to showstopping cakes created by some of the region’s finest from page 49. With the nation now in the grip of baking fever once again, here at County Weddings HQ we’re keeping Tuesday nights free for our weekly fix of cake triumphs and catastrophes courtesy of The Great British Bake Off #GBBO.
Now that Strictly Come Dancing is also back on the box, we know we’re on the countdown to Christmas.
Sadly, this is my last issue of Your East Anglian Wedding, but I will be leaving you in the good hands of our managing editor Danielle Harvey.
Keeeep dancing!

The Old Hall Ely
If luxury and romance are on your wedding wish list, check out this Cambridgeshire venue. You’re sure to be impressed from the moment you arrive down the winding driveway and catch your first sight of the Jacobean manor house and immaculate grounds. With ten acres to explore, there’s plenty of picture-perfect spots for romantic photos. Step inside and be prepared for more stop-stare moments. The interior oozes style with luxury furnishings, bright colours, patterns, textures and antiques to complement the house. Set within a mile of the heart of historic Ely with 16 individually designed bedrooms and views of the city’s cathedral, it’s an idyllic big-day retreat.
In spring and summertime, ceremonies are held in the ornate, outdoor pavilion overlooking the lakes and gardens while in the autumn and winter the grand Orangery provides a magical setting with its floor-to-ceiling glass panels, oak beams and wood burner. Both can seat up to 165 people. There’s a host of versatile spaces for the post-vows celebrations too including a bar adjoining the Orangery and terraces and the topiary courtyard with fountains and outdoor seating, not to mention a personalised gin and cocktail bar! The permanent marquee is the perfect place to party with chandeliers, a bar and its own private terrace. The black and white dancefloor adjoining the marquee is a standout feature and is kept hidden to wow your guests when it’s time for the first dance. With star lights on the ceiling and a large stage you and your loved ones can celebrate in style.
