Romantic horseback proposal

Danny Williams was Sammy Rangolan's real-life knight in shining armour when he got down on one knee in the middle of the woods and popped the question – while she was riding her pony!

The romantic proposal took place at Suffolk outdoor wedding venue Forest Lodge Weddings while Sammy was still in the saddle. “It was a complete surprise,” she says. “Tommo was my first pony and I'd had to give him up a few years ago because I was so busy. I kept in touch with the new owners and luckily was able to take him out whenever I wanted. On the day, I thought it was just a special treat that Danny had organised for me to take Tommo for a ride in Thetford Forest.”

The game was up though as he steered her through to a clearing in the woods. “It's where the outdoor wedding ceremonies are held and it was set up with candles, flowers and prosecco. Danny knelt down in front of Sammy, and Tommo, and asked her to marry him and she said 'yes', of course!

To add to her joy, Sammy found out the same day that she was going to have her beloved pony back. “Tommo's owners were in on it and had followed behind to get photos,” she reveals.

The couple met a year ago while they were both living in Essex, they bought their own home in Norfolk recently and are now planning to tie the knot next summer. “We hit it off straight away and I knew from the start that Danny was the one,” adds Sammy.
