Holkham estate employee Sam Proctor has raised £4,823 for local NHS heroes following a 118-hour cycling challenge in aid of Norfolk's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn.

Pro-triathlete Sam, who works at The Victoria Inn on the Holkham estate in Norfolk, completed the gruelling six-week challenge, covering a total of 2,145 miles and burning 73,361 calories, all to raise money for the hospital.

In addition, he and the team at Holkham Hall have been running a Go Help scheme, providing 5,400 meals to both vulnerable members of the local community as well as NHS staff at the QEH over a period of six weeks. His mammoth efforts have now secured an additional 3,600 meals for a further six weeks. Thanks to volunteers at The Victoria Inn and local suppliers donating the ingredients a total of 10,000 meals will have been cooked and donated by the beginning of July.

The thriving Holkham rural estate is a hotspot for weddings set on the beautiful north Norfolk coast. Built in the mid-18th century, the impressive Palladian hall provides a magnificent big-day backdrop. The estate comprises the hall, deer park, the world famous Holkham National Nature Reserve and beach and offers a wealth of picture-perfect wedding spaces indoors and out.
