If you're getting married this summer now is the time to start thinking about taking care of your hair. To get your mane in tip top condition for your wedding Suffolk-based hair stylist Lisa Frost shares her expert advice:
❤ Start now by using good professional products. Although they might be more expensive, they're highly concentrated so should actually last longer than a supermarket or high street brand and do a far better job. Also...
❤ Don't guess your hair type, speak to your hairstylist and they'll be able to advise you about the right products to suit you, how to use them correctly and whether you need any special treatments too.
❤ Always use a salon heat-protection product when styling and don't have the temperature too high, about 185°C is perfect, otherwise it can break the bonds in your hair making it dry, weak and prone to splitting. Believe it or not using a hairdryer at the right temperature is actually better than leaving your hair to dry naturally for a long time, which is more likely to make it stretch and break.
❤ If you're thinking of having a change of colour for your wedding, always have it done professionally! Do your homework on the salons near you and the brands they use. Look for products that are kind to your locks. We use Organic Colour Systems which are fantastic, vegan friendly and with no harsh chemicals.
❤ When choosing a shade, think about your wedding dress and the overall look you're aiming for. Blonde and highlighted hair is great for showing off detail in braids and textured styles, which can often get lost with dark hair. Therefore, I usually advise brides to have highlights or lowlights (they can be as subtle as you like) just to add depth and definition and help show off a gorgeous style.
