Historic Cambridge hotel the University Arms has reopened after a major two-year £80 million makeover.
The landmark hotel, located in the historic heart of Cambridge overlooking Parker's Piece, first opened in 1834 and has now been officially relaunched. Great news for newlyweds-to-be as the venue boasts a magnificent event space; perfect for chic and stylish wedding receptions.
With 192 beautifully designed rooms and suites, each suite has a private library for that classically Cambridge feel and many on the top floor have access to private balconies with bathrooms inside the building's original domed turrets. University Arms also boasts a destination restaurant, bar, library, underground valet car park and gym. Quintessentially English the literary and academic spirit of Cambridge is one of its defining themes.
The refurbishment has been headed up by renowned classical architect John Simpson and interior designer Martin Brudnizki. The renovation includes the replacement of the building's 1960s and '70s extensions, restoring the hotel's frontage to its former glory in-keeping with the city's architectural heritage.
