One of the many wonderful things about working in the world of weddings is that there’s always something to smile about. Throughout the current challenges, we’ve been inspired by stories of suppliers and venues going above and beyond to help couples planning or rescheduling their big day.
Businesses have been busy behind the scenes, staying in touch via video calls and sending out messages of reassurance to keep all you newlyweds-to-be out there excited for your big day to come. With an ever-shifting landscape, no one can predict exactly what the future holds, but while small micro weddings can still go ahead, many have been grabbing the chance to tie the knot, despite the restrictions. Downsizing your big day doesn’t have to mean compromising on the look either, you can still have an intimate wedding that’s big on style! Local experts reveal how in our special feature, starting on page 55.
Let’s face it we could all do with an extra dose of joy, so this issue as well as all the regular real weddings, expert tips and inspiration, we bring you cake – lots of it! Bedford Lodge
This four red star luxury hotel oozes character and charm inside and out. The ideal blend of old and new it’s surrounded by three acres of secluded gardens, next door to some of the most famous paddocks and horse training stables in the world.

For larger affairs the Classics Suite can accommodate 150 for your ‘I dos’ and is available for exclusive hire for your whole day. Chandeliers and cornices add to the elegance and grandeur and you can host your wedding breakfast and evening reception here too. There’s a private bar area and the versatile space can be partitioned to provide two smaller rooms to suit the style and scale of your celebration.

Cambridgeshire has a new go-to destination for wedding flowers with the arrival of Augusta Hope the floristry shop on Fulbourn high street. Having outgrown their wedding and event studio just outside Newmarket owners Claire and Gussie are now back on the floral scene. "We found ourselves busier than ever in lockdown delivering flowers all over the surrounding counties and beyond. With the expansion plans put on hold initially during the crisis the rise in business was just what we needed to push forward with plans for the new shop," they explain.
