October/November 2018

Phew! What a scorcher summer 2018 was, with recording-breaking temperatures and endless sunny rain-free days. Not your typical English weather, but a dream for all the happy couples who tied the knot this year under cloudless blue skies. We’ve loved seeing all the amazing photos of your glorious beach weddings, summer wedfests and al fresco celebrations across the region. So much so, that we now have not two, but three real weddings every issue, full of local suppliers to inspire you. Turn to page 37 for the first of this issue’s trilogy and don’t forget to get in touch for your chance to be featured in the magazine, simply visit the website youreastanglian.wedding and click on Get Involved.

Personally, although I love soaking up the sun, autumn with all its ‘mists and mellow fruitfulness’ is my favourite season. It’s a wonderfully evocative time of year, perfect for taking time out from the wedding planning to enjoy the great outdoors before the bleak winter weather kicks in.

There’s rich pickings to be had too for those on the hunt for the big-day décor. East Anglia is blessed with a wealth of wonderful countryside and forests, so why not grab your partner, pull on your wellies and head out for a forage? Be inspired by the russet hues of falling leaves and jewel-like seasonal berries. Make the most of nature’s bounty – conkers, acorns, twigs, brambles and feathers for a wealth of material.

Think ornamental gourds in different colours and sizes, pumpkins and richly coloured autumn blooms like dahlias and chrysanthemums for your floral arrangements. For a cornucopia of ideas don’t miss our moodboard of autumnal colours on page 61 with more seasonal inspiraton on page 69.

Happy reading!

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to wed at this rural gem. A working arable farm set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, it’s an idyllic away-from-it-all location for a magical and private celebration. You don’t have to worry about space – there’s plenty of it, so you can invite a crowd to share your special day.

With a chestnut-tree-lined driveway, stunning wedding barn, landscaped courtyards, three licensed ceremony spaces, including a gazebo for outdoor weddings, and a magical woodland area, there’s something for weddings large or small. Although you can’t officially marry in the woods, you can hold a romantic al-fresco service and do the paperwork afterwards in one of the licensed ceremony rooms. The main Chestnut Barn packs plenty of wow factor, complete with marquee-style lining, chandeliers and a neutral colour scheme to complement a range of different big-day themes. Licensed for up to 200 guests, you can say your ‘I dos’ at the top end of the barn, which is sectioned off, and host your wedding breakfast and evening do afterwards. The versatile space can be tailored to suit the size of your wedding or for a cosy setting, the newly renovated Poplar Barn is ideal.

The beautifully kept gardens are great for group photos, while the courtyard provides the ideal sheltered spot for the drinks reception and evening food.
