June/July 2020

I promise not to use the word unprecedented or get too sentimental but I would just like to give a virtual hug to all the couples who’ve had to postpone their weddings. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to see your big day pass by while separated from your family and friends. That all-important date, ringed in red on the calendar, may be crossed out for now but there will be a new one to look forward to!

We’ve been working from home and staying in touch, talking to local suppliers and keeping everyone updated via our website and social media and it’s been inspiring to hear how people have been rallying and reaching out to help others. Venues, bridal boutiques, cake makers, florists and all the many businesses in the wedding community have been doing their bit, helping anxious couples who are having to reschedule their big day. Many have been busy behind the scenes sprucing up their venues, studios, salons and boutiques and fine-tuning their businesses ready to hit the ground running when the doors open again.

Despite the challenges we’ve all been facing, one thing’s for sure, weddings will still be held, beautiful dresses will be worn, cake cut (and eaten), speeches made and photos taken, and we’ll be here to record and share it all with you, to help and inspire you for when your day comes.

This issue we’re spotlighting some of the beautiful wedding barns in the region from page 25 and dipping into romantic locations by the East Anglian coast on page 19. There’s a gallery of wonderful wedding flowers, starting on page 53 as well as a wealth of tips and advice from local experts covering everything from outdoor weddings and bridal beauty to latest fashion, bridal trends and more.

Enjoy reading and stay safe!

Bruisyard Country Estate

Enjoy the best of both worlds at this picturesque venue. Set in beautiful countryside, it’s close to the Suffolk coast too with lovely beaches and seaside towns just a short drive away.

At the heart of the Bruisyard Country Estate is the stunning 17th-century barn with floor-to-ceiling double doors allowing the natural light to flood in. Spacious, with wooden beams criss-crossing the high ceiling, some of the original brickwork can still be seen.

The magnificent hall is steeped in history, with parts dating back over 700 years including the 14th-century remains of a nunnery. Surrounded by lush lawns and flowerbeds, there’s a tranquil lake behind the hall; a favourite spot for romantic just-wed shots. With wildflower meadows, rolling green fields and wooded areas beyond, there’s a wealth of album-worthy photo opportunities.

You can marry in the Medieval Barn joined by 140 guests followed by a wedding breakfast in the Banqueting Barn and evening reception for 200 people. If your heart’s set on an al fresco ceremony, you can have that too; there’s 700 acres to choose from for a picture-perfect spot. For something more intimate, you can say ‘I do’ in the hall with up to 30 of your nearest and dearest and enjoy a cosy reception in the dining room afterwards.
