June/July 2020

I promise not to use the word unprecedented or get too sentimental but I would just like to give a virtual hug to all the couples who’ve had to postpone their weddings. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to see your big day pass by while separated from your family and friends. That all-important date, ringed in red on the calendar, may be crossed out for now but there will be a new one to look forward to!

We’ve been working from home and staying in touch, talking to local suppliers and keeping everyone updated via our website and social media and it’s been inspiring to hear how people have been rallying and reaching out to help others. Venues, bridal boutiques, cake makers, florists and all the many businesses in the wedding community have been doing their bit, helping anxious couples who are having to reschedule their big day. Many have been busy behind the scenes sprucing up their venues, studios, salons and boutiques and fine-tuning their businesses ready to hit the ground running when the doors open again.

Despite the challenges we’ve all been facing, one thing’s for sure, weddings will still be held, beautiful dresses will be worn, cake cut (and eaten), speeches made and photos taken, and we’ll be here to record and share it all with you, to help and inspire you for when your day comes.

This issue we’re spotlighting some of the beautiful wedding barns in the region from page 25 and dipping into romantic locations by the East Anglian coast on page 19. There’s a gallery of wonderful wedding flowers, starting on page 53 as well as a wealth of tips and advice from local experts covering everything from outdoor weddings and bridal beauty to latest fashion, bridal trends and more.

Enjoy reading and stay safe!

Bressingham Hall & High Barn

If you’re looking for wedding wow-factor, the High Barn at Bressingham Hall is a breathtaking space, perfect for both the ceremony and wedding breakfast. The impressive traditional brick and stone building has a wooden frame with exposed beams and high ceilings. Beautifully renovated, it’s a romantic big-day backdrop, full of character and with contemporary finishing touches to complement its authentic charm.

You can say ‘I do’ inside the High Barn with up to 120 guests or outside in the courtyard or gardens. The world-renowned gardens are what really set this Norfolk gem apart, spanning 17 acres, they’re bursting with colour, plants, trees and water features, providing a wealth of great photo opportunities.

Immediately outside the front of the barn there’s a sunny spacious courtyard landscaped in soft romantic hues; ideal for confetti or sparkler shots, drinks and canapes. Behind the building lies the secret walled garden, with paths and a lawn lined with buddleia and lavender plants; the perfect spot for enjoying the venue’s in-house garden games. Host the wedding reception either in the barn with up to 80 loved ones, or for larger affairs the Rozanne Room can seat up to 150 family and friends and receptions for as many as 250 can be accommodated.

You can enjoy exclusive use of the rare vintage gallopers at sunset at the neighbouring Bressingham Steam Museum, just a couple of minutes walk away from the barn. Great as a surprise for your guests and amazing photos too!
