December 2018/January 2019

Firstly, let me wish all our readers a very happy New Year and if you’re starting out 2019 with a sparkly new ring on your finger  congratulations, the journey starts here!

This is peak proposal season and with Valentine’s Day around the corner, love is in the air and there’s a buzz of expectation. It’s not just the engagement ring that’s in the spotlight either, there's a whole host of things on the to-do list, not least the hunt for the all-important wedding dress. We’re here to help with advice and top tips from local wedding suppliers including handy hints on finding the one from some of the region's leading bridal boutique owners and experts starting on page 75 as well as latest trends in catering for the big day on page 65.

We're excited for all the fabulous spring and summer weddings to come and although the first green shoots may still seem a way off, we’re already dreaming of fabulous florals and pretty pastels. However, as the long winter nights are still with us, now is the perfect time to get cracking with the planning. Doing your homework is vital, so while the weather’s still frosty outside, you can cosy up with your other half to browse the pages of this issue. Packed full of wedding loveliness, it’s a treasure trove of ideas and inspiration right on your doorstep. Don’t forget to save the details of all your favourite things, your suppliers will love you for it, as it makes their job so much easier if they can share your big-day vision.

The Secret Garden

At the heart of Burwash Manor lies the 16th-century moated manor house. Nestled in its peaceful and secluded old walled garden is a spacious and attractive marquee – the ideal setting for a perfect country wedding reception.

With a 1,600sq ft pine floor, the permanently situated marquee combines all of the charm of an English country garden wedding, with the ease and comfort of having all the necessary facilities to hand. Couples can enjoy complete freedom and flexibility to create their own bespoke celebration, with the full support and advice of the experienced team at Burwash Manor. Although the venue isn’t licensed for ceremonies, you can have a blessing in the garden and the venue can accommodate from 50 to 140 guests.
