Ethical Kenyan footwear brand Aspiga - who create the most beautiful beaded sandals ideal for honeymoons - have launched a campaign to help clean up a Kenyan beaches with every pair of their sandals sold.

The campaign will run until the end of July 2019 and see a team of local children, gathered by Aspiga, help to clear the beaches. Every pair of sandals sold will see them remove a basket full of plastic.

Aspiga founder, Lucy Macnamara, comments: "Unfortunately, the Malindi beach by the beautiful Marine Park, is sometimes covered in plastic. This is so upsetting for everyone and even though Kenya has banned plastic bags, there is still a lot of plastic bottles, flip flops, fishing nets and the like. I am passionate about the environment and marine life and I wanted to help raise awareness of this issue which my hero David Attenborough has done such a wonderful job bringing to everyone's attention."

The avoidance of plastic is core to Aspiga's brand ethics. They recycle as much waste as possible and are on a mission to be a zero-plastic office. Their range of
eco-friendly products including bamboo cotton buds, reusuable snack bags, Ecoffee cups and Swell drink bottles.

Through their production processes, they try to avoid airfreight whenever possible, minimising the company's carbon footprint. The Aspiga packaging is reviewed regularly as they strive to create as little waste possible when sending out goods.

There are over 60 different sandal styles in the Kenyan range, which are available from www.aspiga.com and also from the new pop-up shop at 345 Kings Road which opens on 17th May for three weeks.

Prices start from £58 and the company can be followed on Instagram @aspigabeach
