Holkham Hall and The Lady Elizabeth Wing
If breathtaking landscape and stunning settings are on your big-day wish list, Holkham Hall is sure to tick all the boxes. Set in a beautiful deer park, with the unspoilt coastline just a stone’s throw away, the imposing 18th-century Palladian-style mansion is the centre of the 25,000-acre country estate. Approached via the two-mile long avenue from the south, first sight of the Grade I listed building, with its spectacular central portico, provides an unforgettable stop-stare moment. Surrounded by terraces, there’s a wealth of picture-perfect features including a magnificent fountain, rolling parkland and lake.
With an array of spectacular rooms and settings licensed for marriages, you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to wed. The grand Marble Hall inspired by a Roman temple is sure to impress. With its 50ft-high ceiling, the light and airy space can seat up to 142 ceremony guests on the ground floor or 170 using the balconies as well. Alternatively, tie the knot in the stunning Statue Gallery, with its magnificent art collection, decorated ceilings and 18th-century chandeliers or the sumptuous Saloon with its rich crimson wall hangings and impressive Old Masters paintings.
The mansion’s four state rooms are ideal for drinks and canapés post-vows and you can take the party outside and host a marquee reception in the private walled garden or for larger parties, the park overlooking the lake is an idyllic spot with plenty of space.
The Lady Elizabeth Wing next to the hall is a venue in its own right, providing a light and contemporary setting where you can host your whole day, your way. Suitable for weddings large or small, it’s set in its own private and secluded courtyard, so you can make full use of the indoor and outdoor spaces.
